I have just read, elsewhere in the Forums, that GMS 6 will be released "in early 2008". I've been eagerly awaiting this major rewrite for quite some time.
I am very keen to get the clubs in my region to use GMS as their Volunteer Manager, their record keeping tool, their source for Game entries and their capture tool for Game results. I'm actually quite selfish about this and so should the various clubs - it will save hours of every coach's time doing the entries and updating the performance data following each Game AND (the selfish bit)...it will save hours of my time formerly spent manually entering and correcting Delegation information. My hope is, once I have received all Delegations' info to a Game, to have the Game fully populated, divisioned, etc in 10 minutes, print the heat sheets...1 minute, and then...print my meet cards (I do carded Games and GMS creats these for me). The only issue that I can see taking longer is adding athletes to their Permanent Delegations. I expect GMS 6 to identify entrants who are not members of their Permanent Delegation and to ask, as it enounters these folks, whether they should be added. Once in the Permanent Delegation, they will automatically be added to the Game being populated. Yea! GMS folks when you get the bread sliced and then deliver GMS 6 (which of course, will be better than the sliced bread). Relief is in sight! Can we have a date for the arrival of the future? Ted |

We're developing GMS 6 right now, and will be doing testing in Idaho this summer. Some of the fun features are already in place, but we're using VSys One (our volunteer system) as the development scaffolding. Folks who are using VSys get access to those new features for testing now; they should be available to select GMS users by July. We haven't picked a firm release date for GMS 6 yet, that will be something we'll determine in concert with SOI over the next few months. |
